The 4th week of the Omer is associated with Kabbalistic sphere of Netzach, which is often translated as fortitude or endurance. Interestingly, the first thing that came to mind regarding endurance was about the persistance, resilience, and stick-to-it-iveness of athletes. I guess those sports equipment ads really sunk in. Yet, endurance is a key part of good leadership of all kinds. A leader needs to show persistance, resilience and stick-to-it-tiveness to keep an organzation moving forward.
Netzach teaches that leadership is not proven in moments of inspiration or brief hyper-focus, but in what is sustained over time. Leaders sometimes assume that one powerful message, one strong meeting, or one burst of focus will carry something forward. Or they push forward an idea, but then get distracted by the next thing that needs their attention. In reality, what shapes a community is what is repeated, reinforced, and revisited.
In practice, this looks like reinforcing key messages over time rather than assuming they’ve landed, and staying engaged even when progress is slow or unglamorous. It means showing up, asking for updates, and acknowledging small movement instead of drifting away when things aren’t exciting. And it requires resisting the pull toward “initiative hopping”—sticking with core priorities long enough for them to take root, rather than constantly introducing something new. Because in leadership, impact rarely comes from intensity; it comes from consistency.
